Yazmin Yupangui, 11, and Two Rescuers Drown Near Arrowhead Mountain Lake, VT
Three people drowned in the Lamoille River near Arrowhead Mountain Lake in Georgia, Vermont in late June 2026, in a cascading rescue tragedy. Yazmin Yupangui, 11, of Cambridge, VT, fell into the river while fishing; her 25-year-old brother, Sandro Lala, immediately jumped in to save her, and both drowned. During the search for them, rescuers found the body of Robert Coreno, 39, of Fairfax, VT, who had separately drowned after jumping in to save a 10-year-old child who had fallen into the water elsewhere along the river -- that child survived. All three deaths were ruled accidental drownings.
